WORLD LEDGE REPORT

Games Continue In 2005
Café Ledge upgrades with new seating, Ledge Ledgends arrive, fresh pop corn, and the games just keep rolling on.
In a three game night Café Ledge went past the usual 10 PM closing. It was a full house with 10 players listed in Game 1.
It didn’t take long to get the crowd in the mood. Most arrived ready and wanting. The usual psychological reaction to feeling Ledgy ran through the group. The WLA official on duty announced the start time of game one to be 7:49 and late arrivals would be given no warm up or catch up throws.
Game One got under way with 9 players at the start and then Christyl showed up in round 4. She was not concerned that she entered 12 throws behind and 5 players had already closed Line 2. She came alive and landed 2 in her first round and closed it in the 5th round.
In round 6 the game came to an end, however, when Doc landed his first ball. He closed at 16 for a Pro Level win. He missed his chance to Double or Double/Double .
Before the end of the round new players who had heard of Ledge through Susie Marie walked in. They were Raven and Sherry. They had no idea of what to expect. Both were further convinced that they knew nothing when, suddenly, it was their turn. Both players were in shock at their being the center of attention. Each maintained a perfect "nello" for several rounds. Then Sherry landed 1.
BC had control of the game from the start. He closed Line one in 5 and Line Two in 9. But his chance to win with a single digit win was lost and he began to fall apart.
Doc was slow but steady. He caught up with BC in round 5. In the next round he lands his first ball for a second win at 16 and a takes home another prize.
Most players, believing the game would go on forever, were paying no attention. The official on hand clarified the situation for them and everyone was sorry they missed it.
Game Three
The Crowd of 12 dwindled to 6. Only Christyl Cody, Carolyn, Colleen, Pamela Sue and BC remained.
Cody and Colleen stayed in pace with BC who was hoping to recover from Game Two.
Christyl finally closed Line One at 12 and said she was going home. The WLA Official explained that since she started the round and a couple of players could possibly win in the same round it would be rude to leave. When the official insisted she pay her $2 penalty for leaving early, she decided to stay.
BC continued on his way with what looked like a possible Pro Level win when he closed Line Two at 12.
By the end of the next 7 rounds that dream was awash. Everyone was now burning the last of the bowl, so to speak, and could find little joy. It was after 10 PM. The game was creeping on its way to being shut down under the 36 Rule.
Finally, BC lands his 34th throw for a win.
So the Wednesday Winners were:

It’s good to know what the heck is going on and how the game is played.
Last week the WLA Rules Committee reiterated the Foot Fault Rule and how the thrower must be in position throughout his throw.
The call is made by the Line Judge or in the absence of a Line Judge, the official.
The official is also the one to call or settle any dispute during a game.
This week we will talk about one of the most controversial calls in the Game, the "when is a round over?" and "how do you count a ball that falls off during a round?"
Controversy has arisen with players believe the round ended when they released the ball. In fact the round is still alive until the final ball has stopped on the Ledge, stopped in the catcher's hand or stopped on the floor.
The round can be designated ended when the ball is presumed to be in a stopped position and either the thrower steps out of the box or the catcher is in the act of cleaning the Ledge.
The final ball must meet these requirements before the thrower’s round is complete.
Any ball that falls off the Ledge during the thrower’s round does not count and the thrower may not count that landing.
