Café Ledge Hosts First Wednesday’s Challenge of 2005
January 19, 2005 marked the kick off of the new season at Café Ledge. In a two game series that listed a total of 10 players the games began. On the roster for game One were Roger, Linda, Stanley, Colleen, Michael "Doc", Bruce and Carolyn.

The game started out reasonably strong, with Stanley and Colleen closing Line 1 in only 4 throws. Stanley and Colleen showed that they had been keeping in top Ledge Play by practicing on their own court located at Stanley’s Bike Repair Shop locate in Mid Sea View. Doc closed Line 1 in 7 throws and that was a disappointment for him, knowing he holds the world’s record of 6, THE PERFECT GAME.

The remaining players moved along steadily. BC closed Line 1 in 9 throws, followed by Roger and Linda at 10 throws. Carolyn trailed on Line 1 but did manage to close at 13.

Line 2 proved to be the big hold up for all players. Stanley continued well by closing at 12 throws and then BC closed at 23. All other players were stuck at that point.

Before anyone really knew what was happening, the game was shut down under the 36 Rule. No Player was able to close all three lines before it was all over.

Game Two:
More players arrived for Game Two. New arrivals included Lucy, Christyl, Robert, and Lilly.

To give you a feel for how things were moving, Line 1 was a bit more challenging for most players. Linda and Christyl struggled to close in round 7. Others did better but it was only Doc who set the pace by closing in 3 throws.

Line 2 was still giving all players trouble. Doc continued to hold the lead by closing the line with 15 throws. BC closed at 20, Lucy closed at 23, Carolyn closed at 24. All the other players were sinking into despair and fear that Game Two was going to be shut down again under the 36 Rule. They realized they were no help.

In Round 8 Doc would not be denied. He closed Line 3 with his last ball to win at 24.

The Staff at Café Ledge served popcorn and tea.

The Prize Series featured the ever popular Mood Ring. A most fitting prize for anyone feeling Ledgey.

WLA Player of the Year Award
The World Ledge Association Player of the Year went to Michael Doc Ream.

"Doc, as he is known by the WLA, has been designated Player of the Year for several reasons", says WLA Awards Committee Chairman. "He has made career decisions based on his Ledge Life, he owns his own Ledge Court and has adhered to all WLA Rules and Game Procedures, plus he was the first person in the History of the Game to Throw The Perfect Game."

During a brief Ceremony prior to Wednesday Night Ledge at Café Ledge Doc was given the word of his winning. Although he was dressed better than ever and although he felt no one deserved it more, Doc acted surprised and was almost caught off guard.

Another Perfect Game Reported
In reports directly from the sight of the #3 court, word has arrived that another player has thrown a 6!!

Stanley Lathers has made several claims to a Perfect Game. Witness, Colleen, attests to the fact that she and Stanley were in a Sanctioned and Certified Game when he did it.

The WLA has requested all the proper paper work and any other pertinent data. Once that is cleared up and the book keeping is complete, this will be the 2nd recorded Perfect Game thrown in 2004.

"The details are still a little vague, at least on exact time and weather conditions", say insiders at the WLA. Official "but it looks like it’s true, and we’re all ready to party down at the drop of a hat."
